O’Sullivan wins bronze at the British Youths!
At the recent British Youth swimming championships held in Sheffield, David O’Sullivan won bronze in the U16 Boys category in the 200 Butterfly.
Finishing in a time of 2.04.38 which was just 0.2 outside his personal best time set at the European Juniors three weeks earlier, David’s final time was good enough to win him bronze in his first appearance at the BritishYouths. In the 100 Butterfly, David also made the final & finished a very creditable fifth to bring to an end a very successful year for David both nationally & internationally.
Team mate & fellow European Junior qualifier, Cian Duffy also had a solid British Youths making the final in the 200IM finishing ninth. Cian also had a solid swim in the 100 Fly that was just outside his personal best time & like David this brought to an end a very successful swimming year in which Cian broke an Irish Junior record in the 200 IM. Cian will join David at the end of November when the two will compete at the European Senior Short Course championships in France having qualified for the senior competition via the European Juniors at the start of July.
Galway SC would like to congratulate David & Cian on their achievements at the British Youth & Age-Groups & would hope that these positive experiences will encourage them like others to aim higher, be stronger & faster in 2012-2013!
