GSC wins Leisureland Cup 2012 – Report
Top notch swimming from GSC swimmers helped the club retain the Leisureland Cup last Sunday night with the club achieving 234 points ahead of 2nd place Athlone SC with 211pts while Castlebar SC came in third with 191pts.
There were excellent performances from the younger swimmers at the club to the most senior, allowing Galway SC to keep the cup at Leisureland for another year.
There were numerous top three performances from club swimmers throughout the meet.
In the U10 category, Alannah Blacoe , Keela Mulhall, Darragh Hanrahan & Zak Rather all raced into a top three spot while Sinead Carey & Tim Keogh won in the U12’s.
Kate Finn,Ruth Keogh, Bryan O’Sullivan & Andrew Moore took top three places in the U15’s and Keena Walsh, Dairne Ryan, Kevin McGlade, David O’Sullivan & Cian Duffy raced successfully in the open category.
In the relays, GSC showed real depth winning 5 out of the 8 freestyle relays & 6 out of the 8 medley relays.
GSC would like to congratulate all the swimmers on a fantastic team performance & also thank team staff Tynagh Leahy & Deirdre Melody for their work as team managers on the night & also team coaches Ger Keogh & Brendan Breathnach for their work in keeping the swimmers focused & structured throughout a very exciting competition!
