Wilson takes Bronze at the Irish Short Course!
At the Irish Short Course Swimming Championships held in Lisburn last weekend, Galway SC swimmer Mitchell Wilson was in fine form winning bronze in the 400m Individual Medley.
In a time of 4.28.61, Mitchell was just outside his personal best set in the same competition last season, and in winning bronze Mitchell backed up his Irish long course bronze in the same event in April and finished off the 2016 year on a very positive note. Mitchell had other strong swims over the weekend making finals in the 100m and 200m Backstroke, finishing 4th and 5th respectively, and in the shorter 100m & 200m Individual Medley events Mitchell had impressive swims making finals in both and finishing 8th and 5th respectively in new personal best (BP) times.
Other notably strong Galway SC performances came from Sarah Kelly (4th /200m Butterfly, 8th/100m Butterfly, B finals – 50m Fly & 200 mFreestyle) and Caomhan Daly was 8th in the Men’s 200m Breaststroke.
Impressive B final results were achieved by Aoife Leahy (200m Back/400m Free), Fionn Duffy (200m Fly, 400m IM and 200m Breaststroke) and Isabelle Gibbs (50m & 100m Backstroke), while positive PB’s were posted by Joseph Doorly (200m/400m Free), Ailbhe Mulhall ( 400m Free) and Keela Muhall (50m Fly).
Galway SC would like to sincerely thank all the travelling GSC parents for their support work preparing for this meet with the meals, accommodation & also officiating, & lastly a BIG Thank-You to Head Coach Pearse & Team Manager Tracy for their work supporting the team over a very busy weekend of competing.
