Superb Division 2’s for GSC’s swimmers
The nine strong team from GSC had a superb meet at the Divison 2 Championships which were held in the UL Arena from Friday 27th-Sunday 29th June.
Congratulations to the two gold medal winners: Alison Walsh who made the podium in the U12 400 IM and Tom Scully who won gold and became a Division 1 age group qualifier in the U13 boys 200m backstroke.
There were silver medal wins for David Doorly in the U11 boys 400m IM and Tom O’Sullivan in the boys 200m butterfly race.
Tom O’Sullivan added a bronze medal in his 400 IM while Liam Kilkenny claimed two bronze medals: in the U13 boys 100m butterfly and the 200IM.
Other GSC swimmers also made finals & congratulations go to Grace Kavanagh who made 8th in the U10 100m and 200m backstroke finals; Tom Scully who came 4th in the U13 2oom backstroke and 6th in the 400m freestyle; Tom O’Sullivan who came 5th in the U11 200m free, 4th in the 100m fly and 8th in the 200IM; David Doorly who came 8th in the U11 200m free, 6th in the 100m fly; Liam Kilkenny who came 6th in the U13 100m breaststroke and 5th in the 200m breaststroke and Alison Gibbs who came 4th in the U10 200IM, 5th in the 400m free and in the 200m breaststroke.
GSC would like to extend its warmest congratulations to all the Division 2 swimmers who competed with such great distinction.
Many thanks to Rose Kavanagh, Owen Doorly and Yvonne Gibbs who as team managers did a fantastic job supporting GSC Coach John Keogh and the swimmers through a very demanding but rewarding weekend of swimming.
