Meet Report: Tuam Gala on Sunday 20th January
Getting a good start to the New Year swimming, GSC swimmers had a very good run during the Tuam Gala which was held on Sunday 20th January.
Our swimmers achieved 45 PB’s and managed to secure ten podium places during the event.
Madeline Mitchell and Zak Rather got the day off to a good start, winning medals in the 100 fly. Madeline took the gold medal in the second event of the day, while Zak came 3rd in the boys 100 fly, with the first bronze medal of the day.
Both Sophie Moran and Roisin Finn had a flying start in the girls U12 100 backstroke, with Sophie winning gold in the event, while Roisin took home a silver medal.
Niamh Melody won silver for the club in the 14-15 100 backstroke event.
Zak went on to claim a second podium place in the boys 100 backstroke, coming in second and taking home a silver medal in the event.
In the first event of the afternoon session, it was another great race for Sophie Moran and Roisin Finn, with both claiming medals in the girls 400 free race.
Sophie came first and Roisin took the silver medal in the event.
Sophie went on to come third in the 100 breaststroke event and ended the day with another silver medal in a super 100 freestyle race.
This brought to an end a great day of racing and GSC would like to extend sincere thanks to the team managers Vincent Finn and Tracy Boland and the team coaches Ger Keogh and John Keogh for their excellent work during the day.
