Meet report: Positive first B/C outing for GSC swimmers
GSC’s younger swimmers started out in fine form for one of the seasons opening galas: the Shark Swimming Club B/C Gala which took place on 28th September.
There were podium places across all three A, B and C grades, with Jennifer Holland and Tom O’Sullivan leading the charge with two new A times. Jennifer and Tom both swam to an A time finish in the U11 200m freestyle event.
Ailbhe Mulhall made a B Time with her first place finish in the U11 200m freestyle race, with Aaron Burke placing second in the boys race to make his B time.
There was further success for Eoin O’Malley who came first and achieved a B time in his U11 100m breaststoke event while Tom O’Sullivan swam to a third place finish in the same event, claiming his B time.
There were C podium finishes for eleven GSC swimmers: Lucy Kavanagh, Eoin O’ Malley, Aaron Burke and Saorla O’Shea all swam to a 1st place finish, claiming their C times in the 200m freestyle and the 100m breaststroke events.
Chloe Heffernan and Alan Shaughnessy made their C times with a second place finish in the 100m breaststroke, while there were third place finishes for Dominic Matei, U11, 200m freestyle, Dominic Cahill, U13, 200m freestyle and 100m breaststroke, Rachel Dempsey, U11, 100m breaststroke and Ben Naughton U11, 100m breaststroke.
In the U11 4×50 mixed freestyle relay, there was a second place finish for the GSC ‘A’ Team of Jennifer Holland, Gavin Dempsey, Alibhe Mulhall and Tom O’Sullivan.
The U13 ‘A’ Team claimed third place with Eoin O’Malley, Chloe Heffernan, Caoimhe Conneely and Dominic Cahill while the U11 ‘B’ team of Aaron Burke, Lucy Kavanagh, Dominic Matei and Grace A Kavanagh came 4th.
