Meet Report: Longford Gala on 11th November…
GSC’s trip to the Longford A grade gala on 11th November, was a worthy trip and a great success for the swimmers competing for the club.
With three events on offer, the 400 Individual Medley. the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, the GSC swimmers achieved 39PB’S from some 60 races & won 8 podiums places for the club.
In the 400 Individual Medley, one of the toughest swimming events, many of GSC’s younger swimmers were competing for the first time.
In the first 400 IM race of the day, Sophie Moran and Roisin Finn won the first podium places for the club with a gold for Sophie and a silver for Roisin in the 11 and under event.
In the 16 and over age group, Kristiana Hristeva won bronze for Galway too.
In the second event of the meet, the boys 100 butterfly, there was more success for the GSC travelling team.
Max Kolcow added another medal to the Galway tally, with a silver in the 11 and under age group event.
In the girls 100 fly event, Roisin Finn came in third, winning a bronze in the 11 and under category.
Joseph Doorly stormed in to a podium place in the boys 400 IM, with a gold medal for Galway in the 11 and under age group.
In the final event of the gala, the 100 freestyle, there was yet another set of podium places for GSC swimmers, with Roisin Finn taking bronze in the girls 11 and under event, while Joseph Doorly added another gold medal for Galway in the boys event.
Galway SC would like to extend a sincere thanks to the Team Managers Vincent Finn and Siobhan Shaughnessy who escorted the GSC swimmers on the bus to Longford and also to the GSC coaches Ger Keogh and Brendan Breathnach who gave support & direction to the swimmers on poolside whilst at the meet.
