Meet report: Great return for Longford A Grade
GSC’s trip to the Longford A grade gala on Sunday 10th November, was the third ‘A’ Grade gala of the season and an excellent meet for the team with super individual performances to make it a worthy trip.
With three events on offer, the 400 Individual Medley. the 100 butterfly and 100 freestyle, the GSC swimmers achieved 35PB’S and won 10 podiums places for the club.
In the first event of the day, the 400IM, Allanah Blacoe and David Doorly won the first podium places for the club with gold medal finishes in the Under 11 event. There was a silver medal for Isabelle Gibbs in the U11 racing with Sophie Moran taking silver in the U13 age group and Roisin Finn and Max Kolcow taking bronze in that event.
In the second event of the meet, the 100 butterfly, there was more success for the GSC travelling team.
Roisin Finn added another medal to the Galway tally, with a silver in the U13 age group event while Keela Mulhall took bronze in the U11 100 fly event.
In the girls 100 free race, Keela Mulhall added to her medal tally with a second place finish in the U11 age group with Emma Kennelly winning bronze and Rory Melody swimming to a bronze medal finish in the boys event.
Galway SC would like to extend a sincere thanks to the Team Manager Oonagh Walsh and chaperoneVincent Finn who escorted the GSC swimmers on the bus to Longford and also to the GSC coaches Ger Keogh and Pearse McGuigan who gave support and direction to the swimmers on poolside whilst at the meet.
