Meet report: Connacht Short Course 14th/15th December
This was a great meet for GSC and a really positive gala for all our competing swimmers who took their performances to the next level – a brilliant finish to the first term of swimming at the club.
With 186 PB’s from 210 swims with an 88.57% return improvement.
Our swimmers won 21 gold medals, 23 silvers and 10 bronze medals and broke several Connacht records over the two day event.
GSC’s senior swimmers broke five junior and two senior records with David O’Sullivan breaking an U19 and a senior record in his 50 fly performance.
There were also Connacht records from several relay races.
Congratulations to the U 17 girls medley relay team of Kate Kavanagh, Alex McFarland, Sarah Jane Fox and Ruth Keogh.
The U17 freestyle relay team also broke a record: Congratulations to Kate Finn, Alex McFarland, Kate Kavanagh and Ruth Keogh and not to be outdone the girls Open relay team of Niamh Melody, Keena Walsh, Kate Finn and Dairne Ryan broke a senior record.
The boys relay teams broke two Connacht records:
Congratulations to the medley relay team of Bryan O’Sullivan, Andrew Moore, David O’Sullivan and Conor Snowdon and the freestyle relay team of David O’Sullivan, Bryan O’Sullivan, Conor Snowdon and Andrew Moore.
GSC would also like to thanks GSC coaches Pearse McGuigan and Ger Keogh and team managers Helen Duffy, Teresa Moran, Helen Finn and Owen Doorly for all their help and support on a very busy weekend.
