Meet report: Bluefin B/C gala held on 27th January
GSC’s younger swimmers made their mark at the Bluefin B/C gala, which was held on Saturday 27th January.
Achieving 49 PB’S, GSC’s young swimmers also made 8 A times at the event in the NUIG Kingfisher pool.
There were fantastic swims and podium places as well as an A time for Isobelle Gibbs who won gold in the first event of the day in the U11 200 Freestyle.
Madeleine Mitchell came third in the same 200 freestyle event and also won the gold and another A time in the girls 100 Backstroke.
Nell Madhi made her A time in the U13 category of the 200 Free, while Rory Melody claimed a silver medal and an A time in the boys 200 freestyle.
David Doorly got his A time while winning bronze in the same event, with Cillian Jordan reaching an A time in the U11 age group event as well.
Rory Melody also claimed an A time and a bronze medal in the 100 Backstroke.
In the B grade category, there were fantastic swims and podium place finishes from Jennifer Holland (3rd, 100 Backstroke, U11), and Nell Madhi (1st/100 Backstroke , U13).
As well as Tom O’Sullivan (1st, 200 Free and 2nd, 100 Backstroke) and Tom Scully (2nd, 200 Free) in the U11 age group
In the U13 events, Cillian Walsh (2nd, 200 Free, U13) and Ben O’Sullivan (2nd, 100 Back and 3rd, 200 Free, U13) made the B grade.
The C winners making the grade at the meet were:
Jennifer Holland (3rd, 200 Free, U11), Orla Gallagher (1st, 100 Backstroke, U11) and Ailbhe Mulhall (3rd, 100 Backstroke, U11). For the U11 Boys, Aaron Burke made the grade (3rd, 200 Free, U11) while in the U13 Boys, there was success for Liam Kilkenny (1st, 200 Free, U13), Dominic Cahill (3rd, 200Free, U13) and Cillian Walsh (2nd, 100Backstroke, U13).
In the 4×50 Freestyle relays, Galway SC ‘C’ team finished 3rd in the U11 girls age-groups.
The U11 Boys ‘B’ team finished 1st and the ‘C’ team finished 3rd in the relay race. While in the U13 girls & boys age groups, the Galway A teams, won both categories.
