Longford host a successful Connacht B/C Grade for Galway SC!
The annual Connacht B/C graded competition was held on Sunday 6th May in Longford, hosting the 4X100 events. With the Galway SC team travelling via bus with a bunch of excited & supportive parents, the competition proved to be a resounding success for all those who committed to the day.
With 24 swimmers representing Galway SC, the team certainly did put in some great performances with 6 A times standards & 55 personal bests being achieved on the day.
The six A grade performances were achieved by Cathal Heffernan, Isobelle Gibbs & Allannah Blacoe in the U11 50metres Butterfly & by Rory Melody, Zak Rathner & Keela Mulhall in the U11 100metres Backstroke.
Top three podium B grade performances came in the Butterfly from Ben O’Sullivan (2nd/U11), Liam Kilkenny (3rd/U11) & Lauren McKnight (2nd/U11), in the Backstroke by Fionn Duffy (2nd/U11), in the Breaststroke from Darragh Hanrahan (3rd/U11) & Isobelle Gibbs (3rd/U11), and in Freestyle by Rory Melody (3rd/U11).
Top three podium C grade performances came in the 50/100metres Butterfly from Liam Melody (2nd/U11) & Patrick Smyth (1st/U13), in the 100metres Backstroke by Tom O’Sullivan (2nd/U11) & Cillian Walsh (1st/U13), in 100 Breaststroke from Cathal Heffernan (2nd/U11), Evan O’Boyle (3rd/U11) & Cillian Walsh (3rd/U13) & in the Freestyle from Darragh Hanrahan (2nd/U11).
This proved to be a great day out for the competing Galway SC swimmers & parents who committed to the adventure & enjoyed the experience away & Galway SC would just like to extend sincere thanks to GSC coaches, Gwen & Niav Ryan for their professionalism in their duties to the team on another challenging day & to Team Manager Rosemary Blacoe who co-ordinated & managed the travelling parents with their duties to & from the competition – WELL DONE ALL & THANKS!
