GSC national times success at Claremorris 200’s
In the fourth ‘A’ grade of the season, GSC’s swimmers had an excellent meet at the Claremorris Gala on Sunday 9th March.
With super individual performances, our swimmers achieved 34 PBs at the 5X200 meet with several swimmers making their Division 2 qualifying time on the day.
Congratulations to Alison Gibbs who made her time in the 200IM and the 200m breaststroke, Alison Walsh in her 200IM, Tom O’Sullivan in the 200IM, 200m fly and the 200m backstroke, David Doorly in the 200IM and Liam Kilkenny in the 200m breaststroke.
The Galway team brought home 24 medals with six gold winners, with Sophie Moran winning the 200IM in the U13 age group, while Tom O’Sullivan took gold in the same event in the U11 category. There were two golds in the 200m fly for Roisin Finn and Fionn Duffy and another gold for Sophie in the 200m backstroke, with Max Kolcow taking his gold in the same event.
There was further success for GSC in the 200IM event with silver medals for Alannah Blacoe in the U11 girls age group and a silver for Max Kolcow in the U13 boys event. In the U11 girls and boys events, Emma Kennelly and David Doorly swam to bronze medal finishes while Roisin Finn and Fionn Duffy won their bronzes in the U13 age group.
Another four silver medals followed in the under 11 racing, with top performances from Jennifer Holland and Tom O’Sullivan in the 200m fly, Isabelle Gibbs in the 200m back and Allanah Blacoe in the 200m breaststroke. Max Kolcow picked up another silver in the U13 200m butterfly event.
Allanah Blacoe and Tom O’Sullivan made the podium again in the in the 200m backstroke event, picking up two bronze medals, while teammate Tim Keogh swam to a bronze medal finish in the U13 200m backstroke.
In the U11 age group, there were further bronze medal swims from Alibhe Mulhall and Zak Rather in the U11 and U13 200m fly events while Isabelle Gibbs and Fionn Duffy won a further two bronzes for GSC in the U11 and U13 200m breaststroke.
