Athlone A Grade Success!
There were PB’s all round when GSC’s swimmers visited Athlone on Sunday 21st April.
A very successful meet for the club, there were 74 PB’s and 14 trips to the podium for our swimmers.
In the first event of the meet, the 100m butterfly, there were 1st place finishes for Sophie Moran and Max Kolcow, and a third place medal for Alannah Blacoe in the U11 age group.
The second event of the day saw another gold medal win for Sophie Moran in the U11 category while Conor Snowdon won silver in the U15 age group.
In the 400 IM, it was another 2 winning races for Sophie Moran and Max Kolcow, with 1st place podiums for the pair. There was further success for both Emma Kennelly and Zak Rather, swimming to a silver medal finish while Daniel Scully won bronze in this event in the U15 age group.
In the 100m breaststroke, Max Kolcow made another trip to the podium with a first place finish while Sophie Moran swam to a third place finish in this event.
There was more great swims for GSC in the 100m Freestyle, Max Kolcow finished 1st in the U11 boys and Sophie Moran finished 3rd in the U11 girls category.
This was a great meet for the team in their preparations for the Connacht Age Groups and brought to a close a very successful A Grade meet and Galway SC would like to extend sincere thanks to Team Managers Therese Madhi and Mike Walsh and coaches, Ger Keogh and Brendan Breathnach for their support to the team during the competition.
