A Grade Success in Claremorris!
There was more positive progress for GSC swimmers, in their build up to the Spring and Summer meets at the Connacht A grade meet held in Claremorris on Sunday 3rd March.
Claremorris were hosting the 5X200 meet and in the first event of the meet, the 200 Individual Medley, there were excellent swims and podium finishes for Sophie Moran, Max Kolcow and Fionn Duffy.
In the girls & boys U11 age-group, both Sophie and Max won gold in their IM races while Fionn won silver in his IM event.
Max Kolcow came away from the Claremorris meet with four gold medals, swimming up a storm in the 200m back, fly and freestyle as well as his IM swim.
Sophie Moran kept up the standard of the U11 girls swimming with further gold medal wins in the 200m back and freestyle and a silver medal podium finish in the 200m breaststroke.
Fionn Duffy also made the podium again in the 200m fly and backstroke events picking up 2 silver positions, while teammate Emma Kennelly swam to a bronze medal finish in the U11 200m backstroke.
In the U13 age group, Sinead Carey made the podium for GSC for a bronze medal in the 200 backstroke.
This capped off a very successful A Grade meet in Claremorris with the rest of the GSC swimmers achieving 35 excellent PB’s to the overall team results.
